Chastity, within BDSM and kink contexts, refers to the deliberate restriction of a person's sexual activity, arousal expression, or ability to orgasm – either through psychological agreement, behavioral rules, or the use of a physical device. The appeal of chastity is multifaceted: for the person in chastity, the experience of enforced denial can heighten arousal over time, intensify emotional focus on a partner or keyholder, and create a profound sense of submission and vulnerability. For the keyholder – the person who controls access to orgasm or release – chastity can be a powerful expression of dominance and a form of ongoing control that extends well beyond individual scenes.
