A self-adhesive tape specifically designed for bondage play that clings only to itself rather than to skin or hair. This property, sometimes called self-amalgamating, makes it safe to apply directly to the body. Additionally, it is quick to remove without discomfort, and is typically reusable across multiple sessions as long as the adhesive remains effective. Bondage tape is typically made from PVC or latex and is available in a range of colous. Latex-free versions exist for people with sensitivities.

Because it requires no knot knowledge and can be applied intuitively by someone with no rope bondage experience, bondage tape is frequently recommended as a starting point for people curious about restraint. A single roll can produce wrist restraints, ankle cuffs, chest wraps, or more elaborate full-body coverage without the technique that rope or leather hardware demands. Mistakes are easy to undo as the tape peels away quickly with no consequence to skin or hair, which lowers the stakes of experimentation considerably.

The restraint produced by bondage tape is real, if less absolute than rope or hardware cuffs. Wrapped firmly around the wrists several times, it provides genuine restriction that most people cannot easily overcome. Its flexibility means it conforms to the body comfortably, and it creates less point pressure than rigid restraints like metal handcuffs. For people new to bondage or exploring it casually, the combination of ease of use, safety, and genuine effectiveness makes it one of the more forgiving tools available.

Circulation should still be checked regularly during use, as with any form of restraint. The firmness of the tape is controlled by how many layers are applied and how tightly – the person applying it governs the intensity of restriction. Bondage tape degrades with repeated use, and once it loses its self-adhesive quality it should be replaced. A single roll typically provides enough material for many sessions before that becomes necessary.
